Kill the Meter

from Overthinker by Andrew Winter

/

lyrics

Well, I remember the time we jumped that fence
I scraped my knee, you ripped your pants
Fueled by chemicals and new love
We're gonna show the dead what we're made of
Shake them from their ice cold slumber
To enjoy the last warm night of the summer

The night started out at a punk rock show
We blew a couple drinks and downed a bag of blow
Got dirty on the car ride back home
The driver pretended, but he had to know
Told him to kill the meter, that's when things got blurry
But I recall a romantic romp through the cemetery

So, if we never grow old
We can stay young here together
Never gonna be told
Just how this story ends
Together we'll be brave
What is strong can never break
Take my hand, we'll walk through this life together

I'm feeling haunted
Like a song getting stuck in your head
It's choking me and I can barely breath
If this is the way we go, it's the way to go
A splendid, happy death
Entangled in the bonds of eternety
